Woodlake UMC

Details:

On February 29-March 7, Woodlake UMC, the Roof Digging Church, will send a mission team to serve with Porch de Salomon (http://porchdesalomon.org/) in Panajachel, Guatemala. Porch de Salomon is a unique and progressive, non-profit ministry which, since 2005, has loved, served, and encouraged “the lost, the least, and the last” (and others!) of Guatemala’s Lake Atitlan region through indigenous home construction (109 quality houses built!), medical/dental/vision/audiology clinics, and high-impact, year-round, humanitarian relief to indigenous people. Woodlake UMC team members who have served Guatemalans through Porch de Salomon have experienced a perfect balance of work, play, fellowship, laughter, beauty, and a sense of God’s presence and grace in every conversation, every face, every prayer and every act of kindness expressed by those serving and by those served. This is a trip that makes the love of Jesus accessible to people who struggle to have basic necessities of life. It is a roof-digging mission. The estimated cost is $1,600 per person, the suggested age is 15 or older, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. If you would like to know more about serving with Woodlake UMC in Guatemala in 2020, there will be an interest meeting on August 4. Team leaders for the 2020 trip will be available to answer questions as well as team members from previous trips. If you cannot attend the meeting, feel free to contact team leaders, Doug and Viv Lees at vivlees@aol.com. They would be glad to talk to you. Let’s dig in Guatemala!
