HSM Puerto Rico Missions Trip General Information

Dates: June 27th -July 3rd 2020

Team: Our team will be made up of students who have completed Grades 9-12 in June, 2020 and adult leaders who will serve alongside and lead our students. Hayley Bannister, Director of Youth Ministries, will be the team leader from Woodlake UMC.

Location: We will fly into San Juan, Puerto Rico. Ministry sites are TBD after our team forms.

Financing the Trip:

• Estimated cost is $1,400-$1,500 per person (flights are not yet booked).
• Each team member will be responsible to contribute $400.
• Each team member will be responsible to raise $400 outside of our church family/church fundraising—we will help you with ideas for how to do this.
• We will have scheduled payment deadlines throughout the year.
• Each team member will be responsible for participating in team fundraisers to raise the remaining cost and the cost for supplies.
•  Team members will want to bring some additional money for souvenirs and for offering when we attend church services.

Travel:

• We have not booked flights yet, so details surrounding flight times and the airport of departure have not been arranged. We may need help with transportation to and from the airport.
•  We will not need passports for Puerto Rico because it is a US territory.

Commitment:

• Our team will meet monthly during the school year and possibly more often when we have fundraisers or as we get closer to the trip.

Next Steps:

• Pray about this trip and talk with your family. If you are ready to go serve God in Puerto Rico, complete the student or adult application and return it to Hayley.
• The team will begin forming and officially registering online as applications are returned. Hayley will get back to you with registration information after reviewing your application.
• The team will be formed and an initial deposit of $100 will be due by November 15th.
